World-class surgery in Japan. A fraction of U.S. prices.
Arbitra Health — from the Latin arbitrium, free choice — is a medical coordination service that connects Americans with our partner hospitals and surgeons in Japan. English-speaking coordinators handle everything from your first consultation to your safe return home. You choose the care you deserve. We take care of the rest.
How much less depends on the procedure and on your case. Comparative price levels in the health sector: Japan 51, United States 152, OECD average 100 (OECD, Health at a Glance 2025, Figure 7.6). Your own price is set by the treating hospital and agreed with you before you travel.

*You can use the service from the day your application is approved. A 3-month waiting period applies after you join; it can be removed with the paid Priority Start option. Airport transfers are a free option, shared with other members, and cover only the trip between the airport and the hospital at admission and discharge. Transfers for companions are not part of the basic service (they may ride along if there is room in the vehicle; if not, please arrange your own transportation). You arrange and pay for your own flights and accommodation.
Why Arbitra Health
American healthcare costs too much.
Japanese healthcare is among the world’s best — and few Americans know it.
The price gap
1/3
Healthcare prices in Japan are about one-third of U.S. levels (Japan 51, U.S. 152, OECD average 100, 2023 data). The yen has weakened further against the dollar since then.

Look at the numbersThe quality gap

Deaths that timely and effective care could have prevented happen about half as often in Japan as in the United States.
